Opera-singer, born in Austrian city Zaleszczyki, now part of Ukraine. First he studied at the Lviv Polytechnic, then singing under Walery Wysocki in Lviv and made his debut there in 1878.
Between 1896 and 1910 he was mainly located in Berlin, where he made more than a hundred recordings for labels such as Berliner, Edison, Columbia and Odeon,
For the Edison label he made a few recordings under the alias Hans Hofmann.
