- Legendary all-female band formed in 1968 and composed of sisters Dot, Betty, Helen and, later, Rachel Wiggin. Although they couldn't play any instruments, their father pushed them to write and record songs, and to perform live. Their first and only album was at first ignored (if not ridiculed) but it is now seen as "one of the landmarks of rock 'n' roll history" (Lester Bangs). Among their fans, Terry Adams, Kurt Cobain and Frank Zappa, who famously said that The Shaggs were "better than The Beatles".
