Western swing and country singer from Oklahoma. While still in his early teens he recorded with a group called the Rhythm Wreckers which also included Ben Pollack, Harry James and later Muggsy Spanier. By 1938 Whitey's name appeared on his recordings: "Whitey McPherson accompanied by The Rhythm Wreckers." However, the musical accompaniment was by an unknown group of musicians.
