- Originally copyrighted by J.M. Williams and Bo Chatman. Williams probably wasn't really involved in the songwriting. Like other recording industry executives he was known for including himself as a writer/composer of works written by others. Not having been credited as co-writer of the lyrics, Mitchell Parish filed a lawsuit, which he won in 1932. Subsequently, he was listed as an offcial co-author.
