Better known as "Amazing Grace". The song was first found integrated with lyrics from John Newton's "Hymn XLI" from "Olney Hymns" (1779) in William Walker's songbook "Southern Harmonies". This is the version popularized in the twentieth century.
Newton's "Hymn XLI" is text only, and many other tunes were used for its music, even through modern times. As "New Britain" is only known from 1829, it is quite doubtful it was ever used as the original tune for "Hymn XLI". - Licensing
