Composer, arranger and writer on aesthetics and music theory. During his lifetime, Takemitsu wrote hundreds of works, including scores for more than ninety films, and published twenty books. Takemitsu was known for forging occidental with oriental music and was associated with avant-garde composers. John Cage was a major influence.
