- Rock band that was developed by Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki and Mato Valtonen and Sakke Järvenpää from Finnish comedy rock band Sleepy Sleepers. After appearing in few short films, they played the lead parts in the feature "Leningrad Cowboys Go America" from 1989. After the film's success Leningrad Cowboys became a real band who have been touring and recording ever since. The band is known for their pointy shoes and hairstyles and for playing rock and roll covers in a romanticized Eastern Bloc style.
