Country singer, radio personality and songwriter. He was a country music radio pioneer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania making his debut in 1929. Beginning in 1944 he was featured on the national radio, and later television, show, Hayloft Hoedown, emanating from WFIL (Philadelphia). In 1940, he and his brother, Pancake Pete Newman, and their wives opened the Sleepy Hollow Ranch near Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The ranch featured a rodeo, live farm animals, square dancing, food vendors, pony rides and nationally know performers (e.g., Gene Autry, Elton Britt, Roy Acuff) and well as local artists.
