Finntrio was founded by Vesa Nuotio and Pertti Reponen in 1962. In 1963 Tapio Kyöstilä joined them to make it a trio. In 1964 they got a record contract and 1965 they released their first album. The band was one of Finland's most famous folk vocal groups in the 1960s and went through several line up changes in the 1970s and 1980s.
