- Folk and jazz singer originally from Milwaukee. In the 1940s she was a member of the vocal trio, The Barries, a group that recorded for Capitol and appeared on the NBC radio network. By the mid 1950s she was a member of the folk group, The Wayfarers. She married another member of this group, Hal Schaefer. In 1964 she completed a Ph.D. at Columbia University and began a successful career as a psychotherapist using the name Leah Schaefer.
