One of Norway's most popular poets, from Ulvik in Hardanger, where he lived all of his life.
When NRK asked their radio listeners and TV viewers to vote and select Norway's greatest poem, Hauge was the only one who wrote two of the six poems in the final. His poem "Det er den draumen" won the vote.
