- Crooner born in Brussels, who started out singing in English, but later recorded in French and Dutch and - using the alias Jef Van Maria - even also in the dialect of Brussels. In the 1980s he became involved in politics and stood for office for the right-wing UND (Union Nouvelle Democratie). For this party he recorded a controversial song called "Touche pas à mon Belge!'' in 2010.
