Comments: Composer born in Vienna of Jewish descent, who - after the Anschluss Österreichs in 1938 - had to flee the country and via Luxembourg reached the USA, where he was only able to earn a living by playing the piano at night clubs until his death in 1944. He wrote 16 operettas and music for various films. His most famous work is the 1925 operette "Der Orlow", which was turned into a movie in 1927.
