- Songwriter, band leader and pianist born in Newark, New Jersey. By 1931 he was playing the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. In 1934 he began playing at the Meadowbrook, where he stayed until 1942 when he joined the U.S. Army. After the war he resumed his career. He retired from performing in 1970.
