- Jazz bandleader, director and trombone player. He was one of the featured soloists in the Herb Wiedoeft Orchestra, which was active in the 1920s. After Wiedoeft was killed in an automobile accident in 1928 Stafford took over leadership of the group and cut thirteen additional recordings for Brunswick. He continued with the band until the 1930s, when he quit the music business and went to work as a tyre salesman in Oakland, California.
