Operatic soprano with a strong lyric-dramatic voice. Born in Prague, she was declined by the National Theatre in Prague in 1897. However, she gained fame both in Europe (performing at the Berlin Court Opera or in London) and the United States (New York Metropolitan Opera). She chose the name "Destinn" as a tribute to her voice teacher from her teenage years. Destinnová's face appears on the Czech 2,000-crown banknote.
