"Mac" was a blind singer and multi-instrumentalist (piano, cornet, trombone, guitar and mandolin) from Gray, Kentucky, who partenered with Robert "Bob" Garland as the duo, Mac and Bob. They met at the Kentucky School for the Blind in 1916 and began performing publicly in 1922. They hosted a radio show on WLS Chicago up until 1950.
