- Lifelong singer of spirituals, blues and folk music, Hall was recorded by Alan Lomax when he was making field recordings in the southern United States. This generated some interest in her, and Hall had other opportunities to record, but supported herself primarily as a washerwoman and cook. She was inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in 2005.
