Singer-songwriter, poet, translator and occasionally recording artist, born Robert Burns. Best known as lyricist for some of the best known Jerry Garcia / Grateful Dead songs and his various collaborations with Bob Dylan. In the early 1960s, Hunter volunteered as a test subject for a psychedelic chemicals research program (MKULTRA) sponsored by the CIA and was paid to report his experiences taking LSD, psilocybin, and mescaline.
