Alicia Grugett, coloratura soprano, was born in Havana, Cuba. Her family came to the United States when she was very young. She began voice lessons at the age of 15, and at 16 years of age, she sang the part of "Amahl" in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Creative Opera of Miami, She continued to sing in various musicals during her high school years and graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and received her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan, both on scholarship. Ms. Grugett has sung with the Miami Opera, the Pittsburgh Opera apprentice program, the New Jersey State Opera, the Capital City Opera (Atlanta), the Allentown Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony and has won numerous vocal competitions.
