Hi-Posi were formed in the late 1980's as a new wave/J-Pop quartet, consisting of Miho Moribayashi, Kenji Kondo, Naomi Araki and Suguru Yamaguchi. In the early 1990's Moribayashi and Kondo re-invented Hi-Posi as an experimental/electronic duo, frequently associated with the so-called Shibuya-kei (Shibuya Style). When even Kondo left the project, they became, as Miho Moribayashi put it, "the only band in the world consisting of a woman and her cat".
The band can be considered on indefinite hiatus since the mid-2000's.
