Comments
Group formed in Melbourne, Australia, originally as a post-punk quartet. Originally identified as a "goth rock band", their sound changed radically after the two founding members Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry moved to England. Gerrard's compositions are often described as "ethereal" and "neo-classical", whereas Perry provided songs and ballads reminiscent of the folk rock and art rock tradition. Completing the picture, the duo's common interest for African rhythms, Irish folk, Medieval music and Eastern instruments.
