A gospel group that originated in the 1930s with students at the Piney Woods School near Jackson, Mississippi. After graduation some of these students decided to turn professional; they performed as the "Jackson Harmoneers." They recorded under this name for Excelsior Records in the 1940s. They were also known as "The Sensational Blind Boys", "The Five Blind Boys," The Original Five Blind Boys," and "The Blind Boys of Mississippi."

Archie Brownlee, lead singer and one of the founding members of this group, was a major influence on members of other gospel groups as well as secular singers including Ray Charles.
