- The Ferko String Band was founded in Philadelphia in 1922. Beginning in 1923 the Ferko String Band performs in the New Year's Mummers Parade in Philadelphia every year through the present (2013). They have appeared in the film ''Miracle on 34th Street" and and network television shows including "The Jackie Gleason Show", NBC's "Today Show" and ABC's "Good Morning America."
