Born in Brooklyn, New York City. Daugher of Louis Wimpfheimer (1861-1935) and Mary Ross (1864-?). Married to Charles Julian Haas (1884-1968).
Studied composition at the New York School of Music. After graduating she toured the Keith and Orpheum vaudeville for three seasons (1921-23) as a singer, dancer and pianist.
Composer of popular songs, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.
Her birth year is in dispute, some sources claim it was 1904.
