The Medieval Jazz Quartet was a band with four members who played recorders and a name comically inspired by that of the "Modern Jazz Quartet." It was founded in 1961 by Bob Dorough. Members included Dorough [tenor recorder]. Martha Bixler [soprano recorded], Shelley Gruskin [bass recorder] and LaNoue Davenport [various recorders, tenor crumhorn].
