- Lockran was born in Indiana, although his forefathers had emigrated there from Ireland around 1800, and his paternal grandmother was of Russian descent. His mother was the daughter of a British father and Indian mother, When Lockran's father died, the family eventually emigrated to south London in 1953. Lockran was a blues singer, guitarist, songwriter and poet. A heart attack in 1981 effectively ended Lockran's career as a professional musician, and he died of another heart attack in 1987.
