- Old time country music fiddler from Virginia. He formed a band with his children: Charlie [banjo, vocals], Ada [ukulele], Opha Lou [mandolin] and Carrie Belle [guitar]. He also performed with his wife Matilda. In 1924 "Fiddlin' Powers and Family" made the first recordings of a working mountain string band.
