- Swedish-American Folk singer from Ashtabula, Ohio. His family had emigrated to the United States but returned temporarily to Sweden where William Clauson lived between the ages of two and six years old. On returning to the U.S. his family lived in Los Angeles, California. He studied violin, voice and composition at a conservatory. Later he gave up the violin and studied the guitar. In the 1940s he was an actor and appeared in an Abbot and Costello film. However, he decided to pursue a career in music. He travelled extensively performing and recording in many countries including Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavian countries.
