- Stand-up comedian and actor who appeared on stage, in films and on television. He was also a voice actor. Lynde appeared more than any other celebrity as the "center square" on the syndicated American game show "The Hollywood Squares" beginning in 1966 until 1979. He was in 716 episodes of the game show. While never coming out as gay, he was as close to "out' as possible given the times, and his one liners were often double entendres with references to his homosexuality.
