- Jazz trombonist, arranger and songwriter. Liston became the first female trombonist to join a big band when she joined Gerald Wilson in 1943. Later she worked with Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie and Randy Weston both as trombonist and arranger. She was also a prolific songwriter, often working as a ghostwriter.
