- Versatile bass player and composer, father of the film director Spike Lee. Bill Lee played acoustic bass with many artists in the early 1960s including Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin and was a mainstay at the Newport Jazz Festival. Later he composed the scores for several of his son's movies.
