Singer-songwriter, known for her stream-of-consciousness, often autobiographical lyrics and her equally intricate music, full of tempo changes and unusual harmonic progressions.
In her 2010 memoir Rat Girl (aka Paradoxical Undressing) she wrote about her mental condition and how it influenced her songwriting. She explained she would hear noises, that turned into sounds, that turned into songs, complete with lyrics, bass, guitars and drums, like a radio, and the only way to "turn it off" was to write the songs down and play them. - Member of
