"Child of Nature" - as composed, written and recorded earlier than "Jealous Guy" - would actually be the original work (composition & lyrics), also called 'root work' of both songs, but it would only be the 1st recording of "Child...".

"Jealous Guy", the recording, was released much earlier than the "Child of Nature" one, but "Jealous Guy" (the work), as setting new lyrics to an already existing melody, would constitute a lyric(ization)al adaptation (= 'sub-work') of "Child...". Still, Jealous Guy would remain the original/1st release of that adaptation.
