History
Originals has the same info:
https://www.originals.be/nl/originals/15812
though no idea what his source is. For all we know it's Wikipedia.
Discogs only has 205 US releases from the 1890s, and it's not there:
https://www.discogs.com/search/?ev=em_rs&decade=1890&type=release&country_exact=…
Nor do we have any idea who Charles Marsh is.
What I did find was a trace of Columbia 1889-1896 recording by Fred Roberts
Source: The Recordings of the Columbia Phonograph Company, 1889-1896
by National Recording Preservation Board
This Fred Roberts is another mystery. Maybe the composer of She Bolted With A Boarder to Chicago ?
I searched all of https://www.78discography.com for "Cat Came Back", "Charles Marsh" and "Fred Roberts", but to no avail.
is dit dezelfde "charles marsh"

That Charles Marsh seems to be a lyricist:

He also wrote Black and Blue Blues, copyrighted in 1928 :
Both songs came out respectively 30 and 34 years after The Cat Came Back. It's possible it's the same guy, but it's not the most probably scenario.
Still stuck ! Do you want to research on? Or do we close the report ?
