Also stuck for now. Is there any way to contact the singers? Or maybe Sain Records?

Great job, looks like there's a real chance we'll find the translator!

Meanwhile, sSetting this back to "need info".

Email from Sain Records below. Translator is Gwyneth Parry and the Welsh lyrics are also below.

Hi David,

I'm back, at last, in the office (2 days a week) and have managed to take a look in the file

Translation for "Silver threads..." was by Gwyneth Parry, Welsh lyrics below

NODWYDD AUR AC EDAU ARIAN

Gwyneth Parry

Nid wyf eisiau plasdy unig

Gyda dagrau ym mhob man

Eisiau rwyf y search wnest gynnig

Islaw y lleuad gwan

Meddwl wyt dyliwn i fod yn hapus

Gydath brês a’th enw da

A chuddio yn ofidus

Tra rwyt ti’n fy nhwyllo i

Nodwydd aur nag edau arian

A wna i ddim mentro sopian

Dracht o’th win cynhesol di

Meddwl wyt dyliwn i fod yn hapus

Gydath brês a’th enw da

A chuddio yn ofidus

Tra rwyt ti’n fy nhwyllo i

Allant drwsio nghalon i

A wna i ddim mentro sopian

Dracht o’th win cynhesol di

What's your source for the album? I don't see any link in the submission...?

As I say in my original submission ITunes, which has Welsh and English titles.

https://music.apple.com/ca/album/broc-m%C3%B4r/213790780

I now realise how unpopular it is for me just to say ITunes so now no longer do it.

Although it remains an important source.

It's not that it's impopular... it's just that iTunes was not around in 1994!

So the link is most useful to listen to the soundbites and to crossreference the entry, but the label is likely incorrect and the cat number is missing.

The following stages took place.

a) I searched for Silver Threads and Golden Needles on ITunes.

b) ITunes gave a number of versions, one of which was in Welsh with the title in ITunes in both languages. As in the link.

c) Whoever uploaded it to ITunes - presumably Sain Records - entered ℗ 1994 Sain (Recordiau) Cyf.

I would only use iTunes as a source for the release date for digital-only releases after 2010 - and even then you should always try and get at least one other source to verify. Certainly it's not reliable for older releases first released on CD or vinyl.

What is still needed to close this and the other Broc Mor submissions?

This title appears as processed under the translator name and not at all under the artist.

The record company is asking.

To process this submission we'd need the label and the cat number of the 1994 issue.
