Hi Mr. Ron !

A great version by the former sex symbol Amanda Lear, who despite her age (which is not known for certain:D) still looks good! Thanks for the post.

We do however need some further feedback;

1) Part of the song is in French; who wrote the lyrics?!

2) Are you sure that it is the first version by Amanda?! Wikipedia states the following, which made me doubt:

French singer Amanda Lear recorded her interpretation of "Copacabana" in 2005 and it was released on a single by Dance Street and ZYX Music. Apart from single edit of the song, a longer version also exists, with a slower piano intro. The latter was included in Forever Glam! compilation tracklist, released later in 2005.

Please, some feedback !

Kind regards,

Limbabwe

I don't know that this will resolve the questions, but here's some more information:

The September, 2005 single:

A longer, December, 2005 album cut (from Sings Evergreens) :

https://www.discogs.com/Amanda-Lear-Sings-Evergreens/release/2123203

(A reviewer at rateyourmusic calls this a "new recording." https://rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/amanda-lear/amanda-lear-sings-evergreens/…

Forever Glam! (2005) is here:

https://www.discogs.com/Amanda-Lear-Forever-Glam-/release/3040771

A version with a "slower piano intro" is here:

Note that this version is 4:10, which is a lot closer to the 4:14 duration listed for the album rather than the 3:27 version listed for the earlier single.

A "video edit" of a performance without the "slower piano intro" is here:

This performance lasts 4:11 -- too long for the reported single release.

With the exception of the "slower piano intro" each version sounds very much the same (subject to better ears than mine).

Most of each of these performances is in English, with French on the repeating chorus.

From the discogs entries it looks like the French part of each version is a translation by Kurt Sorbon.

No clip found for the reported shorter (3:27) version.

The sleeve for Forever Glam! identifies the performance on that album of "Copacabana" as "new" (and of duration 4:15).

(There is also a writing credit for this performance for "Babysee," and no credit for Kurt Sorbon.)
