More on the cover by the Mo-Dettes. "Paint It Black" appears on the vinyl LP, "So Far", released in 1980. The LP is on DERAM, catalog, SML 1120; however, rights are apparently held by Decca Record Company, Ltd.

The 45 single was released in 1980 prior to the LP, but the LP is not a reissue. 1966 is the year of copyright of the Jagger-Richards' composition -- not the original release year of the Mo-dettes' single. The Mo-dettes didn't exist until 1979.
If I correctly observed the B-side, "Bitta Truth" is credited to the Mo-dettes, but also shows a 1966 copyright date. If so, the label is simply wrong. I know Wikipedia is not a favored source on this site, but it confirms the 1979 existence of this band, and other miscellaneous sites do as well.
