According to the Roy Orbison website the release date of the "In Dreams" LP is July 1963

So why is it on the single then?

This is the B-side of Mean Woman Blues, that one noted here as charting at #5 (pop category) in September. It makes sense that something would be taken off the slightly older LP so that MWB could be released immediately, perhaps as filler, more likely purposely intended as a flip. Blue Bayou “only” made #29 (pop) with no date given. FWIW, as I remember, it was not a long-lived hit at the time while MWB was on the charts for a long time.

In Dreams is Monument SLP-18003, Blue Bayou is in the track listing. Note the charting at #35, 08-63, so that helps confirm the earlier LP release date.

Corrected the song "Blue Bayou".

"Mean woman blues" was not on the "In Dreams" LP, so that remains on the medium Blue Bayou".
