Error description
History
Mary Helen, I forward your error report to Froko, the editor, who entered El Trio into the database. You will hear from him.
Thom
The only reason the name has been entered like that is because I've been told to strictly follow name on the record label, but I have no strong opinions on this matter.
Frode
The records labels have Trio Los Panchos, there is no not "El"

Look at the album cover-- there is no El before Los Panchos. it's a major error. El La Lo, and los means "ther" so in effect, that would read as, " the trio the panchos. " There are staff who are speakers of Fr. Well it's the same in French-- where there is a le, there would not also be a les as articles in a name.
I know it's not there on the album cover. I was just making an observation and explained why it was entered like that to begin with. It has been decided that the record label goes before the album cover and everything else, unless it is an obvious spelling error. In fact, if I had not included the "El" I wouldn't be surprised if someone else posted me an error message saying that I should follow the name on the label. Grammatical errors, which by your explanation this is, should probably be a good reason to change the name. I have absolutely nothing against changing it, but as the new guy here, I don't want to make that decision.
Frode
Where is that label? Stop making this personal, " ...Grammatical errors, which by your explanation this is, .." either consult an expert, research it or do what you want it is perpetuating that error. The band doe not call themselves El trio los panchos (hthis is the trio the panchos)any more that Led Zeppelin calls themselves The Led Zeppelin. Do whatever you want, SHS want to perpetuate error, go ahead. Your personalizing it because you don't know the language is unacceptable. I'm out of it.

Just to clarify, the label is in the attachments on the right side. Maybe this is not visible for non-editors? It was added from here: https://www.discogs.com/release/8573697-Los-Favoritos-de-Todo-el-Mundo/images
And to clarify further, I agree with you. I was just trying to explain why the "El" got there in the first place and why I don't want to make the decision to remove it. I don't know Spanish grammar, and you explained why this was wrong. Nothing personal in that. I believe you and sincerly thank you for pointing it out (no irony!).
Well well-- (I sort of chuckled when seeing these--ironic indeed!) I Looking at both the back cover and the label, without going into language specifics, this is part of the problem. The front and back cover read "The" Trio Los Panchos, which then is changed/back translated to "El" Trio Los Panchos. Note that the label also reads," "Printed in USA." Every instance where I have seen (on labels and covers) "El" with the name IS a US label -- (yes they exist, but they are errors). Given the time when these were made/printed, no native sp speakers on staff or available.
And here is my final word(s) --really this time--the trio's webpage(s) all have their proper name (no el) and if you were to find a list of all trios (there were many) none would have "el" in their name.
