Error description

Wondrous Love/Cold Rain and Snow

This appears to be a medley of "Wondrous Love" and "Cold Rain and Snow". "Wondrous Love" is a different traditional song in its own right so shouldn't this be in the database as a "partial cover"?

Yes, you're right. In fact I should enter it as a medley of the two songs, which means it should be a partial cover of both of them.

If I remember correctly, I left it the way it is because I couldn't find anything out about the "Wondrous Love" part of the medley i.e. whether it actually is the traditional song or another one with the same title (and if so, who wrote it). It's certainly something I should follow up a bit more.

"Wondrous Love" is indeed a traditional song. I believe the tune predates the lyrics by as many as several hundred years, but there were lyrics by the early 1800s. I own two versions of this song in my personal collection.

OK, but do you know if the Cowans are singing the traditional song, or another song with the same title?

The following site reviews the CD -- which is out of print -- and lists the track as "taditional". http://www.icogitate.com/~celticfolkmusic/fr-DebCowan.htm I would be surprised if it were not the traditional song given the type of music Debra Cowan plays. I couldn't find anywhere on the web I could actually listen to some of the track. If I could, I could tell you from listening whether it is the same song.

I agree with you, but for me this isn't "strong" enough to enter it as a cover. I need a bit more... Smile
