Take Good Care of My Baby
Currently the SHS database shows the first release for "Take Good Care of My Baby" was by Dion on his 1961 Runaround Sue LP. Only the year is given as the release date.
Similarly, only the year, 1961, is given as the release date for the version by Bobby Vee. However, closer inspection shows there are two releases given for the Bobby Vee version: a single with July 1961 provided as the release date and an LP with 1961 given as the release date (but no notes to substantiate the LP date).
The July 1961 date for the single appears to be correct. This disc was reviewed in the July 31, 1961 issue of Billboard. His LP appears to have been issued much later. Discogs.com provides February, 1962 as the release date.
The Dion LP was not reviewed until the November 6, 1961 issue of Billboard.
Consequently, it appears that the first release was by Bobby Vee on the single, Liberty F 55354 (July 1961).
