Umm, sure, but I don't think it useful or illuminating to recognise that by the term 'adaptation. In fact quite a lot of the tune is distinct, and of course the rhythm and flavour are very different. Rice wrote two sets of words to the Webber tune - I don't think calling the second set an adaptation or even a derivative helps at all. To put it on the same level as the Swedish translation of the song(s) is wrong, or at best misleading. However, if that's the best of way of expressing the link within the Secondhand Songs site, so be it I guess.

Not sure why I decided to check this thread, but interesting. I'm not familiar with all of the related works for Evita, but the exchange above suggests that the different songs share some common musical elements, a feature not that uncommon for a musical or a film.
Seems some guideline may be advisable to handle this type of situation to distinguish from an adaption.....
