http://www.fonorama.cz/firmy/D/Deram%20LP.htm says "dec 1967" as album release, but not confirmed by a second source, so 1968 chosen instead
In any case, the slight lyric and title change afterwards, is proof enough, his was an earlier take than Alpert's.

The determnation of the original release is not straightforward, therefore I believe an editor note is needed to explain the reasoning.
In the editor notes (at release level), I've added our own Deram SML releases (before and after), but without a second source, it remains a guess, I'm afraid... (RYM gives 1968, as currently we do)
