Error description

The source (to which you refer to in the comments) says the title is known as "Romance Nouvelle". Etrennes de polymnie : recueil de chansons, romances, vaudevilles was published 1785-1789, which is quite soon after the publishing of the music piece itself so it seems to be reliable. Therefore I think this title should be also mentioned, which I am doing here. Happy

The Société Française de Musicologie published an article called La version authentique de la romance "Plaisir d'amour" by Maurice Cauchie in Revue de Musicologie T. 18, No. 61 (1937). This article can be found here (Login required) and it provides evidence that this piece of music is from 1784 not 1785. This corresponds to the French Wikipedia article that also claims this romance is from 1784 and which cites Histoire de la chanson française - Vol. 2, Claude Duneton, Éditions du Seuil, 1998.

Where have you found that Jean Baudrais was the first one to publish it? Maurice Cauchie states it was first published in Airs du Droit du Seigneur et trois romances nouvelles avec accompagnement de harpe ou de forté piano par Mr. Martini amateur. in 1784. In the catalogue of the Bibliothèque nationale de France this score is dated circa 1783.

My source was http://www.musimem.com/martini.htm but it's trumped by yours. Fantastic research, title adjusted Smile

I am automatically logged in because I use the university network. Waii! Therefore I unfortunately don't know exactly how to log in there otherwise.

Thanks for adjusting. Smile It's not really relevant, but maybe you can still add in the comment that it was first published either in 1785 by Jean Baudrais or in 1784 in "Airs du Droit (...)". It seems that there are several theses/opinions in research in this regard.

Would you mind making a printscreen of source we can't access?

I am automatically logged in because I use the university network.

Now of course I'm very curious: Are you studying or working at the university? Smile

I'm sorry, but I don't think I can provide a screenshot of the source, because I think this would break copyright law and I'm not willing to risk this.

But I will attach how to get an account there when one's not accessing via a school or university. With such an account one is able to read 6 free articles per month. Now during the corona pandemic time there are even 100 instead of 6.

I'm studying at university to become a teacher. Smile

Yes, it's okay now, I'm satisfied. Grin

And yes, I am a German and no, I do not speak French. I had French in school, but could never really practice speaking then or later. Today I am only able to read some stuff in French (with the help of a dictionary Grin) and stammer a few sentences as for example ask for directions and things like that.

Still... your French is more than good enough for researching purposes!
