Finally a major error Bastien!

according to The Originals (and quickly doublechecked):

original: smokey robinson & the miracles (1967 Motown) but not released

2nd version: the isley brothers (1967) but not released

first release: gladys knight & the pips (1967) (nr1 r&b charts)

This website claims:

Motown Sings Motown Treasures Includes original version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

which implies it wàs released. I think I'll set this version as original then.
