- The original East West was launched by Atlantic in 1955, and closed in 1959. It was revived by Atlantic in 1990. In the States, the relaunch was known as EastWest Records America for one year before being merged with Atco Records. The merger operated as Atco / EastWest Records, before reverting to EastWest, the name it had used outside of the States since the relaunch. By 2001 it had again ceased activity, only to be reactivated in 2005 as an "indie" rock label.
