Comments
Founded in Chicago. While the label included many musical genres, it became well known for its jazz and classical releases.
Following its parent company PolyGram's merger into Seagrams (1998-1999), the Mercury name became dormant in the US. In 2007, the US label was revived under the Island Def Jam Music Group, while the UK company continued as a sublabel under Universal Music UK.
