Originally created by MGM Records in the early 1950s as a budget label. The label was shut down in 1960, but was reactivated in 1971 when Jimmy Webb closed down his MGM-distributed Lionel Records label and many of its acts were transferred to the revived Lion label. It was permanently retired in 1973.
