After the sale of its then-parent company ARC, the name was discontinued in August 1939 except for reissues. The Brunswick name was then licensed to Decca, who then also acquired part of the Brunswick back catalog (circa 1944). Although the US branch of Decca (and the Brunswick label) was sold off during world War II, American Decca recordings appeared in the UK under the Brunswick name until 1968.
So Brunswick became a subsidiary of the US Decca label. Nat Tarnapol then bought Brunswick in 1970, making it an independent label. The label has been dormant since 1982 (except for reissues) due to legal problems. Brunswick's back catalog remains split among three owners. - Related labels
